Naya Rivera search update

According to Variety, the search for Naya Rivera on Lake Pirucontinues, but searchers scaled back the operations due to hard conditions underwater.

Variety reported that the Ventura County Sheriff's Department believes that Naya Rivera accidentally drowned in the lake as per an interview with Rivera's son. The search shifted this Thursday morning from rescue to a recovery operation wherein there are about 100 divers and searchers working to locate Rivera.

However, the effort had been lessened to about 40 personnel on Friday. Sheriff's Captain Eric Buschow said in a press conference that the search is largely conducted using side-scanning sonar devices.

Buschow said the visibility underwater is limited, causing divers to have difficulties and be blindly using their hands to locate Rivera's body. Besides, the Tulare County Sheriff's Department team found some promising images on the sonar device, and they sent underwater robots to check. Still, the search continues, Buschow said.

Rivera presumed dead by authorities

On Thursday, authorities presumed Rivera dead. The Ventura County Sheriff shared a CCTV footage of Naya Rivera and her son arriving in Lake Piru at 1:00 in the afternoon. The video shows that the pontoon boat Rivera rented for three hours headed out onto the lake.

As reported by Daily Mail, the search-and-rescue mission shifted to a recovery mission said by the authorities. The authorities explained that Josey Dorsey, son of Naya Rivera, said that his mother did not return to the boat after going for a swim.
