With the resounding success of "SOUR" commercially, fans of Olivia Rodrigo have been "brutally" waiting for a sequel album for quite some time.

But, in a latest interview, she revealed that the upcoming album might not be the same as her debut album.

Olivia Rodrigo New Album in 2022?

As of writing, Olivia Rodrigo has not announced if she will produce the sequel to "SOUR" this year.

In a recent interview with ELLE, Olivia revealed that she does not relate to the songs of her debut album anymore as much as she did prior to the release.

More so, the 19-year old hitmaker also hinted that she has "likely moved on" from the angsty heartbreak themes of her debut album that she has experienced before.

"I'm definitely not as sad as I was when I wrote Sour. I'm so excited to make my next record and explore more colors and textures and feelings and grow as a human being even more. I'm really stoked for that," Olivia explained.

The revelation was warranted as Olivia experienced difficulty listening to her debut song "drivers license" and "traitor" because of how painful the songwriting process for the two songs has been for her.

She admitted that she made "a little distance" from the two songs before, but with the tracks' whopping success, she now feels "so proud" as she enjoys singing it now.

Launched in May 2021, "SOUR" became one of the most successful albums released that year. The project brought forth chart-topping singles and coveted awards for the Disney alum.

With "SOUR," Olivia was hailed as Billboard's 2022 Woman of the Year with her breakthrough in the music industry at such a young age. Not only that, the debut album is the reason why she snagged seven nominations at this year's Grammy Awards.

Predictions Say Grammys 2022 Might Be Olivia Rodrigo's Biggest Night

At nineteen years old, Olivia has been nominated for four major awards this year.

Billboard predicts that Rodrigo is expected to sweep the four major categories this year along with the Pop Vocal Album of the Year.

On the other hand, Los Angeles Times echoed the same thoughts except for Album of the Year, which they felt Billie Eilish would take home.

But despite if she took home all four, the "drivers license" singer is pressed to take home the Best New Artist, which she has been a frontrunner since.

Olivia Rodrigo will be performing one of her "SOUR" hits onstage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sunday, Apr. 3, 2022, at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards.
