Paul McCartney recently learnt that a large firm will be charging people more for plant-based milk - something he just could not accept.

The Beatles star, who owns several properties in the United States, is now calling out Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson in an open letter he co-wrote with PETA, saying that he and the organization are campaigning for no additional charges when consumers choose plant-based milks such as almond, oat, and soy.

The current CEO is set to resign on April 4, prompting the "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" singer to make an 11th-hour plea.

"I recently discovered that Starbucks in the United States charges an additional fee for plant-based milks instead of cow's milk."

Paul went on to say that it astonished him because Starbucks outlets in the United Kingdom do not charge fees for alternative milk selections.

"I would like to respectfully suggest that you examine this policy in Starbucks USA as well."

Paul McCartney has long been recognized for his environmental and animal rights activities.

Is Paul McCartney A Vegetarian Or A Vegan?

Since the 1970s and his first wife Linda, long before plant-based diets were hot, the singer-songwriter has been open about his vegetarian lifestyle.

"You can get tons of vegetarian alternatives these days, so it's not like it was in the old days when you only got the boiled sprout," he stated in an interview with Wired magazine.

Paul also said that compassion was one of the reasons he became a vegetarian. He thought that he desired a better life for not just himself and his family, but also for the animals and the earth.

When Linda died in 1998, he pledged to carry on her animal rights campaign.

Paul McCartney also voiced a campaign film for the animal rights organization Glass Walls in 2010, exposing the inhumane circumstances cattle face on the farm and in slaughterhouses.

Last year, the "Maybe I'm Amazed" hitmaker asked world leaders at the United Nations Climate Change Conference to include the Plant-Based Treaty in the Paris Agreement, pushing their countries to transition away from animal-based food businesses.

Meanwhile, all four Beatles members were vegetarian at one point or another, including John Lennon, who was vegetarian on and off in 1967.
