Born Oliver Stanley Murs, Olly came from Witham, Essex, England. Olly hails from a long line of Latvian descent in the country.

Olly was a sporty kid as he had played football when he was still in high school. Later on, he pursued this career semi-professionally as he eventually took part in and won the Ridgeons Reserve Teams Cup.

His football career came to a halt when he sustained an injury which prompted him to pursue a path that he did not know at first that he would flourish at.

Olly Murs Music Career, X-Factor, The Voice

After returning from backpacking in Australia, Olly Murs auditioned for the sixth season of The X Factor UK after being unsuccessful two times. He failed to make it past the stage where he could sing in front of the producers.

He sealed one of the "easiest" yes from Judge Simon Cowell after singing Stevie Wonder's "Superstitioius."

He placed second to Joe McElderry at the finals of X-Factor. Weeks after his runner-up stint at the singing competition show, rumors of him recording a debut album spread like wildfire.

To date, Murs has already released six studio albums, with the latest being "You Know I Know" in 2018. He has received six nominations for his music in the BRIT Awards from 2011 until 2016.

Olly Murs Television Career

After his ascent to stardom because of his music career, Olly Murs made a full circle moment as he is now one of the coaches of the seventh season of The Voice UK. He won the eighth and ninth seasons of the competition.

Olly also hosted his own show on ITV, "Happy Hour with Olly Murs," in 2018, before leading his current talent show "Starstruck."

Recently, he opened up about the difficulty of hosting the show.
