After the success of her era "SAWAYAMA" and the run of her critically-acclaimed "Dynasty Tour," Rina Sawayama is ready to close her previous chapter and enter a new era as she released a new single titled "Hold The Girl."

According to a press release, as reported by NME, the latest track is a combination of pop and country music mixed with "glam rock riffs and lyrics that are peppered with tonge-in-cheeke one-liners shouting out a pantheon of gay icons."

The singer references significant LGBTQIA+ icons like Princess Di, Whitney Houston, and Britney Spears.

Produced by Paul Epworth, Sawayama revealed that she's been listening to many female country musicians over the past years and wanted to try her shot at writing a "euphoric country pop song."

For the singer, Country music represents comfort, a brilliant way of telling stories, and an authentic expression of the songwriter's perspective.

The British pop star added she added as many iconic pop culture moments and references, but her track is "more than that."

In addition, "This Hell" also has a deeper interpretation regarding human rights as they are being taken away from minorities due to religious beliefs and more.

While writing the song, Sawayama said she was specifically thinking about the LGBTQIA+ community.

"When the world tells us we don't deserve love and protection, we have no choice but to give love and protection to each other. This Hell is better with you," she added.
