Jennifer Lopez is well-known for her extraordinary career in music, film, and fashion.

She has been and continues to be on top of the world for the last 25 years.

However, she almost gave up her career due of the harsh criticism that came with being on the spotlight.

She stated in her Netflix documentary "Halftime" (via The Sun) that there were many times when she just wanted to let go of the celebrity she fought so hard for because she had to figure out who she was.

But one of the factors that almost contributed to JLo's departure was the cruel mockery of her physical form, particularly her butt, in the early years of her career.

At the same time, there was no diversity in show business in terms of men's and women's body forms and sizes.

When she first started her career, the ideal beauty was "thin, blonde, tall," with "not a lot of curves," according to the "Maid in Manhattan" actress.

But, as JLo acknowledged, growing up among curvy women was not something she was ashamed of.

"It was challenging when you believe people think you're a joke - like a punchline," she admitted. But it ended up impacting things in unexpected ways."

This included becoming a fashion star, but even her fiancé Ben Affleck was taken aback by the amount of attention she received.

"I asked to her once, 'Doesn't this worry you?'" Ben recounted. 'I'm a Latina,' she explained. I'm a lady. 'I anticipated it.'"

The one-time special follows Jennifer Lopez's spectacular career revival in the highly praised film "Hustlers" in early 2020.

At the same time, JLo and Shakira headlined the Super Bowl halftime performance, which was seen by more than 100 million people in the United States alone.

In the same documentary, the "Get It Right" singer admitted to being ambitious her entire life and that she tried everything she could to achieve success.

"I fell in love with dancing, which completely diverted me from school."

So, when her mother gave her an ultimatum when she was 18 years old that she needed to acquire an education if she wanted to live in their house, they allegedly got into a quarrel, and Jennifer Lopez simply stood up and went.

JLo has 17 Top Ten hits, sold over 80 million records, and appeared in 40 films over her career.
