Jay-Z would not be dropping the mic soon as he clarified that he is not yet retiring from making more music.

The rap mogul has finally opened up on his next career plans in a new interview, and fans of the hip-hop icon will be delighted with his response.

Announcing his retirement from music has been a thing that Jay-Z has been hinting at since 2003. Thankfully, he never pushed through despite the numerous attempts.

Jay-Z Future Career Plans in Music

Speaking to his friend Kevin Hart on Peacock, the "Empire State of Mind" rapper clarified that he has no plans on shutting his door to music soon.

Apparently, Jay-Z is at the crossroads - not fully knowing what will happen next. He confirmed, however, that he is not planning to make a new album soon.

But I never want to say I'm retired... It's a gift, and who am I to shut it off? It's open to whatever. Maybe it's not an album. Maybe it is. I have no idea, but I'm just going to leave it open," HOV explained.

The last time Jay-Z released an album was in 2017 with "4:44." Jay-Z's thirteenth studio album was one of his most critically acclaimed projects.

A year after, he and Beyonce released "Everything is Love," which scored the Best Urban Contemporary Album award at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards.

Jay-Z Explains Previous Retirement Plans

Elsewhere in the interview, Jay-Z elaborated on his previous attempts to leave the music industry and retire from making music.

After releasing "The Black Album" in 2003, Jay-Z infamously announced that he would be retiring from music - shocking everyone at the time then.

But three years later, Jay-Z released "Kingdom Come," therefore squashing any plans of retirement.

"And you know, I just looked up one day and I was like, 'I'm tired.' I had never been on a vacation until like, I want to say 2000. Like my whole life. And I was just really burnt out at that moment," Jay-Z admitted.

In other news, Jay-Z's wife, Beyonce, is due to release her much-anticipated album "Renaissance" on Jul. 29, 2022. Its lead single, "Break My Soul," peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
