Ray J is making headlines again for improper images.

The rapper told TMZ that officers stopped him in San Fernando Valley, Calif., on Aug. 6 on the premise that Ray J had been texting while driving his Bentley. He told the officers that he was simply struggling to connect his Bluetooth, and they let him off with a warning.

But instead of stepping back into their squad car, the officers asked Ray to step out of his vehicle. The situation turned from dicey to friendly, though, as they just wanted pictures with the famous entertainer.

The website claims that their law enforcement sources said the Los Angeles Police Department would launch an internal affairs investigation. It's against policy for policemen to take pictures with a driver after letting him off the hook because it creates an appearance of impropriety, the source said.

Ray J had another run-in with California police last year, when he went toe-to-toe with the Beverly Hills PD and wound up with four charges.

Of course, Ray's celebrity origins are of a dubious nature. A 33-year-old artist from Mississippi, he signed to Elektra Records when he was teenager, and enjoyed moderate success before breakout singles "One Wish" (2005) and "Sexy Can I" (2008).

But his most famous "accomplishment" was the release of a sex tape with former girlfriend Kim Kardashian in 2007. The video served as a weird launching pad for both stars' careers, and still finds its way through the cracks of pop culture today.

After Kardashian began a serious relationship with rapper Kanye West, Ray J released the single "I Hit It First" in April 2013 with a pixilated image of Kardashian walking on the beach.

He's not likely to catch much flak for the recent LAPD pictures, but the same can't be said for the officers involved.
