In a stunning turn of events, the controversial accuser of Bob Dylan's sexual assault and abuse case drops the case after evidence was destroyed.

The news came days after Bob Dylan's lawyers were bewildered after the opposing team has fired its legal camp after pending discovery of more important evidence and key trial deadlines.

Bob Dylan Accuser Withdraws Abuse Case After Destroying Evidence

Bob Dylan's high-profile sexual abuse case comes to a close in favor of the music icon. In a recent hearing, the accuser, who has only been identified as J.C., asked the presiding judge to dismiss the case with prejudice.

This means that the highly-contentious lawsuit cannot be refiled anymore as it would be permanently closed.

The surprising move from the opponent's camp came after the plaintiff, J.C., was accused of deleting messages and threatened with monetary sanctions. (via The Hollywood Reporter)

Because of the irretrievable evidence, the integrity of the entire case was compromised, Dylan's lawyers argued.

"This case is over. It is outrageous that it was ever brought in the first place. We are pleased that the plaintiff has dropped this lawyer-driven sham and that the case has been dismissed with prejudice," Orin Synder said in a statement, Bob Dylan's head lawyer.

Bob Dylan's Lawyers Anticipated the Accuser's Move

Last week, Dylan's legal team has expressed concern over the sudden termination of the accuser's legal team while in the middle of a pending huge discovery and deadlines in court.

Snyder noted that the move from the other camp is "concerning" as it seemed like they were trying to "evade court-ordered document production obligations."

The court ordered the accuser's legal team to produce "all non-privileged documents" earlier this week, which the musician's camp deemed to be relevant to the case.

The documents needed were allegedly destroyed, thus, the withdrawal.

Bob Dylan Sexual Abuse Lawsuit Explained

In a 2021 lawsuit, an unnamed woman who only goes by the name of J.C., alleges that Bob Dylan sexually abused her when she was just 12 years old in New York.

However, Dylan's historians backed him up and refuted the allegations, saying that the incident is "chronologically impossible" as the dates that the accuser initially stated put him out of New York.

This prompted J.C. to amend and adjust the dates on her complaints, which puzzled Bob Dylan's camp even more.

Denouncing the controversial claims, the lawyers described the case as "false, malicious, reckless and defamatory" and a "brazen shakedown masquerading as a lawsuit."
