"It's About Damn Time" may have been one of the summer's biggest hits next to "As It Was" but Lizzo revealed that it almost never happened as she initially didn't want the song to be the lead single off her latest album "Special."

The pop star appeared on "Hot Ones," a series produced by First We Feast where celebrities are invited to answer several questions while eating chicken wings along with different levels of hot sauce.

At first, the 34-year-old singer thought the challenge was easy as she described it as "a piece of m*********' cake," but she underestimated the power of hot sauces in front of her.

During the eighth question, Lizzo almost gave up as her body started shaking and tears in her eyes started falling down.

Elsewhere in the interview, host Sean Evans asked about her standards for choosing songs from her album that would become singles.

The singer said she's bad at picking singles for herself because she thinks that everything she does is incredible.

She then revealed that the song "About Damn Time" almost never made it as the lead single.

Explaining the reason why, Lizzo said she was not happy with the song at the time when they were still creating it.

Later in the process, she realized it was a message that the world needed to hear at the time.

"The 'I've been so down and under pressure, I'm way too fine to be this stressed' - it's like, hello! We needed that right then when I dropped that m***********," she said. (via Billboard)

In the 23-minute video, she also opened up about her music-theory skills and why it's a strong foundation of her songwriting process, saying she makes pop music but wanted to make it musical.

"I make really musical, interesting pop music that I think a lot about the composition, understanding the time signature you're in - harmony and dissonance and rhythm and cadence - I think it is important," she added.

Despite struggling in some parts of the challenge, Lizzo was able to make it to the end and finish all the vegan wings served to her.

In order to recover from the tingling sensation that the hot sauces gave her, she tried eating vegan ice cream the eased the pain.
