Paul Simon made headlines last month after appearing at the Newport Folk Festival and it appears that he has something bigger in store for fans as he's reportedly coming out of retirement to release new music.

According to Spin Magazine, the singer is said to be recording a new album at the Reservoir Studios in New York. The record is tentatively titled "The Seven Psalms."

Cabaret singer Barbara Fasano detailed her encounter with the musician as she was also recording a song at Reservoir.

She revealed that they bumped into each other in the communal kitchen as she prepares to sing a cover of Simon and Malcolm Garfunkel's "Old Friends."

She detailed the encounter in a Facebook post, writing, "I introduced myself and said I was sorry to interrupt, but we were actually about to record his song, his face lit up and he was on his feet, walking into our studio."

Upon arriving at their recording studio, Simon pulled out his guitar and started playing "Old Friends" to coach them regarding voicings and instrumentation.

Fasano added that the singer played the guitar that he's been using on his solo albums for over five decades.

"He stayed with us for nearly an hour. And then we laid down OLD FRIENDS, now sprinkled with pixie dust by this American icon," she concluded.

As of this writing, Paul Simon has not revealed an official release date for his upcoming record.

Why Did Paul Simon Retire?

According to Ultimate Classic Rock, the iconic musician previously announced his retirement from creating music and tours.

His final project was "Stranger to Stranger" in 2016 and he said after that, he was done for good.

Speaking about creating future albums, he noted that he could still create new albums with the same quality as his previous ones, but it would take him three years to produce.

"since I don't think I can make an album any better than I'm making it now, I think I'd rather spend my three years traveling," he added.

The folk-rock legend returned to the stage at this year's Newport Folk Festival as he surprised fans during Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats' set.

They played several songs like "Graceland," "American Tune," "The Boxer," and many more.

As of this writing, Paul Simon has not announced if he's going to return to touring soon.
