Saweetie is taking her time with her highly-anticipated debut album "Pretty B*tch Music," as she works on herself and her artistry, she explained in an interview.

During her interview with Yung Miami for "Caresha Please," the 29-year-old rapper revealed that she has been doing a lot of "soul searching."

"Like I said, I was doin' a lot of soul searchin'. I was in the studio, and I really just wanted to take time to really become [an] artist," she said.

Honesty

This came after Yung Miami asked Saweetie how she was doing. The "Best Friend" rapper shared that she has been doing better compared to the previous year, adding "[...] and I'm finally getting back to my center self."

Saweetie explained that 2021 was a rough year for her, not only in terms of her career but also in her personal life.

She noted that "Pretty B*tch Music" will highlight honesty, adding that she had studio sessions wherein she broke down, "I'm just being hella honest in all my music, and I've never done that before."

According to reports, Saweetie has been teasing music for what seems like years. She announced the release of the album was set for June 2021, however, as of this writing, it is yet to be released.

Push Backs and Delays

Saweetie explained the reason behind her pushing back the album back in June 2021, saying, "And one of my goals is for people to really feel something with every song, so I had to go back and reconstruct some songs. Just know that I'm a perfectionist and it's on the way."

Around November 2021, Saweetie again talked about "Pretty B*tch Music," claiming that she had an "epiphany," and decided to delay its release again.

"This album needs to have feelings, it needs to have soul, it needs to have spirit,"

"And I have a lot of room for improvement, so I'm gonna work on that. And once it's done, the album will be released," she said with finality.

Backseat

"I felt like I blew up too quick," Saweetie told Yung Miami during their interview.

She added that she was getting booked for shows, campaigns, and brands so often that her time in the studio took a backseat.

"[...] My love for music kinda just got put on the backside, so I really wanted to focus on my artistry because I never had the opportunity to do that."

Two months prior to the supposed release of "Pretty B*tch Music," Saweetie entered an artist development camp. She revealed that this came after much scrutiny of her live performances.

"I struggle with breathing control, I'm gonna work on my dance moves, my details, all that good stuff, my body, my stamina, everything."
