Lizzo has a complex way of seeing how relationships work, this is much is evident in her own relationship with her boyfriend Myke Wright, as she questioned monogamy and marriage.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Lizzo talked about how she's in no rush to tie the knot, she is taking her time with this relationship.

"I've known him for over six years. He's everything. We're just in love. And that's it," she simply said.

The 34-year-old singer confirmed that she was in a relationship in April.

A few months following the announcement, Wright was seen on the red carpet with the "About Damn Time" singer in June for the FYC event for 'Watch Out for the Big Grrrls."

'Claustrophobic'

The singer is now known for championing several advocacies including, body positivity, and now she is also advocating for independence in relationships.

In an interview with the podcast "The Breakfast Club," Lizzo described monogamy as restricting and "claustrophobic."

"Monogamy, to me, is a little claustrophobic because there are rules. I think a love relationship that's not monogamous has no rules. I think people who do poly and all that stuff- there's still rules."

She further explained why she thought monogamy had "rules," and how her relationship worked without them.

"People fight for monogamy like they pray to it every day. I am not a polyamorous person, I'm not in love with multiple partners," she said. "That is not me. He's the love of my life. We are life mates."

She also emphasized that the individuality of the partners must be reinforced, adding that there are "no expectations," and through that, they can focus on love.

Wedding Over Marriage

When asked if fans should expect wedding bells chiming any time soon, the singer shut down the notion of marriage-at least for now.

"Do I want to get married? If I wanted to start a business with him, I'd get married because that's when your finances come together," she replied.

She explained the more practical side of marriage and how monogamy and independence played a role in it.

She, however, clarified, that she "loves" weddings and prefers it over a marriage.

"Not that whole 'You complete me, you're my other half.' No. I'm whole, and you're incredible too," she continued.

"We're like the mirror image of each other. We're connected. But that doesn't mean I was incomplete when I met him."

So for now, fans shout sit tight because it seems like Lizzo and Wright are pretty content with what they have as of the moment.
