Ahead of the upcoming release of the GRAMMY 2023 nominations, Kendrick Lamar is here breaking records and setting history as he waits for the pending nominations that he is expected to take home.

Although he has recently released "Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers," that album was not the one recognized the Billboard.

His album, "good kid, m.A.A.d. city," takes the cake as it has been making waves in the genre-blending album charts since its release.

The album was his sophomore project, but it was his major label release from his critically-acclaimed discography.

According to Chart Data, "good kid, m.A.A.d. city" achieves a record-setting history for being the longest-running hip-hop studio album on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. It has reportedly run for a full ten years on last week's tracking data.

To date, "good kid, m.A.A.d. city" holds the record of the longest-running hip-hop album on the charts - it has since clinched the record away from Eminem's "The Eminem Show" in 2019.

On the recent Billboard 200 albums chart, "good kid, m.A.A.d city" sits at No. 46, while "Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers" ranks No. 26, and "DAMN" is at No. 60.

Currently, it holds the longest-running hip-hop studio album record, but if it is based on the longest-charting hip-hop album in the charts, Eminem's compilation album "Curtain Call" is one to beat. If Kendrick would want to beat that, he has 18 months more to go to secure the feat.

"good kid, m.A.A.d city" opened to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 charts in 2012 with a staggering 242,000 album equivalent units. The album was among Lamar's critically-acclaimed records - considered by many as the record that put his name out there on the scene.

The project has no GRAMMYs, though, as it lost to Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' "The Heist" in the Best Rap Album category in 2014. But despite this, the album was hailed by Rolling Stone, very recently, as the Greatest Concept Album of All Time.

Lamar was poised to dominate the Rap Category on the upcoming 2023 GRAMMYs, with "Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers," a shoo-in for the Album of the Year category too.
