A video of Chance the Rapper singing praises to Nicki Minaj is making waves online. The MC has been known to have been fond of the female rap icon, speaking about her on numerous occasions.

In the now-trending video, Chance is in what seems to be a guest at a radio or podcast show, possibly talking about who artists he looks up to.

It is unlikely for a male rapper to be vocal about considering female rappers as their icons, but Chance the Rapper doesn't hold back on his thoughts.

"Beyond hip hop. Like outside of hip hip, streaming rights, like the rights of us like to let us connect the money were owed, the rights of Billboard to start accounting streams that they weren't counting - that was Nicki Minaj. So like, I respect Nicki in a whole different way. I'm not close with Nicki on a friend level cause she is more like, I would say, in a more of a mentor space," he confessed.

In 2016, Nicki vocally expressed her mind and paved the way for the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) to consider streaming as part of the album-equivalent unit collection scheme. (via Yahoo News)

At the time, certifications for gold and platinum were only based purely on sales, both physical and digital copies of the record. Streaming on platforms like Spotify or Apple Music didn't count - until after Minaj led the way to it.

Now, a total of 1,500 streams will then be counted as 10 track sales or one album sale.

This was not the first time that "The Highs & The Lows" rapper have given Nicki her well-deserved flowers.

In 2018, when Nicki was on a fiery meltdown on Twitter against Travis Scott and Kylie Jenner because of the alleged rigging of the "Queen" album, Chance the Rapper had his back and defended him at the time among retractors. (via VladTV)

"I can't imagine what it'd be like to literally not be able to show yo frustrations with actual inequities and subjugation. Without being called bitter or angry or a liar or crazy. Mfs literally tell a BW "I feel u, but u not goin about it the right way"... what?" he said.

Fast forward to now, Nicki Minaj has recently made the headlines after again publicly calling out The Recording Academy for booting out her song "Super Freaky Girl" on the rap categories of the upcoming 2023 GRAMMY Awards.
