A full-blown war against Latto and Nicki Minaj has had Twitter at the edge of its seats.

The two rappers began firing at each other on Oct. 13, 2022, when Nicki Minaj got a hold of new information about her recent GRAMMY Awards escapades.

Nicki Minaj, Latto Feud Explained

Earlier this week, it was reported that Nicki Minaj has entered four of her songs for GRAMMYs consideration - "Super Freaky Girl," "Do We Have A Problem," "Blick Blick," and "Love in the Way." It is important to note that she entered "SFG" into the rap category.

However, in a The Hollywood Reporter exclusive report, it says that The Recording Academy's rap committee has recategorized "SFG" into Pop; therefore, it would be competing for the Best Pop Solo Performance category.

This was not the first time that The Recording Academy has done the same thing. Earlier this year, Brandie Carlile expressed his frustration at the Academy after revealing that her song, "Right On Time," which she submitted to Best American Roots Song, was reclassified to Best Pop Solo Performance.

"When the Grammys made that decision for me. It felt like I had been taken out of my space that I wanted to be in," she pointed out at the time to Billboard.

In Nicki Minaj fashion, she spoke her mind publicly on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Latto's "Big Energy," which was said to have sonically sounded like Minaj's "SFG," was reported to have stayed in the rap category. Nicki even quote tweeted a fan tweet showing how Latto described her song to be a "pop" one.

Similarly, "Anaconda," which "SFG" was closely compared to, was nominated last time at the GRAMMYs for Best Rap Performance.

Nicki also noted how her song, "SFG," ruled over the Billboard Rap Songs Chart and was still deemed "too Pop" in the GRAMMYs' rap category. In a now-deleted string of tweets, Latto started quote-tweeting some of Nicki Minaj's unnamed tirades.

The newbie rapper accused Nicki Minaj of repeatedly subtweeting and firing shots about her on Twitter.

Nicki then confirmed later that it was not about her and it was a content creator on TikTok.

Latto went on to reveal that she asked Nicki Minaj repeatedly for collaboration on "Big Energy," which she passed out on multiple times. Eventually, the song had Mariah Carey on it.

It even got to a point when Latto age-shamed Minaj, who she described as being older than her mother and an old bully.

"Age shaming when you look like YOU the one pushing 40. Age shaming but was BEGGING for a feature. Imagine what dem genes gon do in 10 years Oh so you in your 20's. Oh ok then. At least it match your album sales. You sold 20K right? Mad u flopped. That's why u rlly mad," Nicki said in a now-deleted tweet.

Aside from this, Latto even posted some recordings of a conversation she had with Nicki Minaj before, refuting her initial statement that says Nicki told her explicitly that she is not "flourishing."

The back and forth eventually died down after Nicki refuted what she said and the words that Latto was referring to. The other camp also stopped tweeting afterward.

For context, Latto had sung praises of Nicki Minaj before in numerous interviews, which confused fans now why a Nicki Minaj, and Latto feud erupted all of a sudden.
