What was supposed to be an innocent discussion among fans about which member of the 2016 XXL Freshman Class would win in a Verzuz battle began a beef between 21 Savage and Kodak Black, and neither want to let up.

According to Uproxx, 21 Savage participated in the discussion, and claimed that he can beat all his batchmates, "No one from that... Freshman cover beat me in no Verzuz," said the rapper, referring to XXL's 9th annual freshman issue, featuring the 2016 Freshman Class.

Included in the list are 21 Savage, Kodak Black, Lil Yachty, Denzel Curry, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Dicky, and Anderson .Paak.

Kodak did not take too well to 21 Savage's claims and addressed them during an Instagram Live.

"21 don't want the smokes, man," he said. "That ni**a ain't say nothing yet. I done DM'd that ni**a. Man, wassup? Run it. I done hit Verzuz. [sic]"

"Don't be capping on this internet, homie. You ain't ready to stand up in that fire, boy," added the "No Flockin" rapper.

Fans and rappers alike cited 21 Savage's confidence stemming from his newly released joint album with Drake, "Her Loss."

However, 21 Savage asserted that he has been successful long before he began collaborating with the Canadian rapper.

"Before all this Drake shIt, I've been having hits, been having diamond songs," he said.

"I'm probably the only ni**a of this generation to go platinum with no features. They always talking about, 'Oh, Savage a feature artist.' No, Savage went platinum with no features. My first album, Issa Album, went platinum with no features."

A fan, on the other hand, pointed out that they only know him as a featured artist. "I can't remember one 21 song without a feature, that organically caught on from the streets, and Blew up without the push of a label. Kodak has numerous organic hood classics."

Other fans say that he has no chance in defeating his batchmates, citing Lil Uzi Vert, Kodak Black, and Denzel Curry can easily beat him in a rap battle.

According to TMZ, both 21 Savage and Kodak Black have platinum and gold albums.

However, there is no word on whether fans can expect a rap battle between the two-or any of the other rappers in their 2016 batch-in the near future.
