Taylor Swift will embark on her first tour in five years, and she wants nobody to miss out on any of her songs-from her oldest to her most recent releases, that's why she named it the "Eras" Tour.

That is also why the stakes are higher for fans who have both never seen the singer perform before and fans who want to see her perform several new songs from her more recent albums, "Folklore," "Evermore," and "Midnights."

However, given that Swift is one of the most prominent artists in today's generation, she has amassed quite a large fanbase, and although she has added several dates to her tour since it was first announced, Ticketmaster was unable to handle the massive influx of hopeful fans.

According to reports, Ticketmaster noted that the tour garnered  a "historically unprecedented demand," which caused their website to experience "intermittent issues."

AFP noted that several fans experienced several issues during the ticket-selling process, including site glitches, massive queues, and soaring ticket prices.

Not-So Stellar Experience

A Swift fan, interviewed by AFP, detailed his arduous ticket-selling experience and blamed the ticket-selling company.

In addition, he also complained about how the ticket prices shot up during and after the ticket selling, as the resale price of a ticket surged.

"Ticketmaster is a money-hungry service with little to no regard [for] real fans. I think they will allow price gauging since it allows them to take advantage of situations like this," said Cody Rhodes, the fan.

Some reports noted that the resale ticket prices have reached $2,000 to $9,000. Fans are left devastated by the outcome of the ticket selling and are calling for a change in the system.

And their cries were heard by several lawmakers in the country, including  Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who tweeted: "Daily reminder that Ticketmaster is a monopoly. It's merger with LiveNation should have never been approved, and they need to be reigned in. Break them up."

In October, President Joe Biden announced that he will crack down on the processing fees, citing processing fees of concert tickets as an example.

More Perfect Union noted that "Ticketmaster is destroying live music" by controlling the events, venues, and artists, adding that the fees cost about 78% of the actual ticket.

As of this writing, there is no definitive action done against both Ticketmaster and the resellers. Fans continue to queue for their tickets, overlooking the issues for the sake of getting tickets to see Swift.
