Melanie Martin took to Instagram to celebrate the first birthday of her son with Aaron Carter, Prince, but the entire post was both heartwarming and heartbreaking.
"Happy birthday to my baby boy Prince Lyric Carter," wrote Martin, as she shared a video compilation of pictures of her son, some of which included the late "Candy" singer.
Carter passed away three weeks ago, and the singer missed his own son's first birthday, and his ex-fiancee also commemorated the short time he got to spend with Prince.
Despite it being a joyous day for their family, Carter's untimely demise hung at the back of everyone's mind, making it bittersweet.
"Today is going to be a tough one for me but I know your daddy is playing birthday songs for you up in heaven," she continued. "I love you, baby boy!"
Additionally, Martin also reportedly shared a video of a billboard in Times Square in New York City that featured photos of Aaron and Prince fitted in it.
Martin also captioned it with "I ask everyone to keep a positive attitude take a moment light a candle and play your favorite song by Aaron Carter! We all appreciate you so much!"
Missed
Following the death of the singer, his ex-fiancee had been seen mourning and sobbing outside his home.
So it is understandable that she has taken the time to not only dedicate this day to her son, but also the man whom she shared her child with.
In her Instagram Story, Martin shared a picture of Prince's birthday cake. It was Spider-Man themed, with a picture of Carter and Prince together. She also worte: "... have to be strong for our son."
In December 2021, Carter posted a selfie with his then newborn son on Instagram.
Carter died on Nov. 5. He was reportedly found in the bathroom of his California home by a housekeeper.
As of this writing, there is no word on how the singer exactly died. Carter and Martin had an on and off relationship just prior to the singer's death. Their relationship's status upon Aaron's death was unclear.
