Adam Levine is extending his television reach beyond The Voice. Maroon 5's frontman recently teamed his company 222 Productions with NBC to get the ball rolling on a project about the music business in the 1970s.

The 10-hour event series will include contemporary stars rerecording 70s songs, according to Billboard.

Songwriters Evan "Kidd" Bogart and Emanuel "Eman" Kiriakou - who have both worked with Top-40 artists such as Beyoncé, Rihanna and Demi Lovato - will collaborate on the music, with RCA serving as label partner.

Boardwalk Entertainment Group is the overarching entity for both the 70s series and a 10-hour event series on Robin Hood entitled Robin Hood & Marian, which is expected to include 60 original songs.

From Billboard:

"These projects are not typical musicals -- we don't have dance numbers and kick lines," says Boardwalk's Tim Bogart, who, along with brother Evan, is the son of Casablanca Records founder Neil Bogart (the disco trailblazer's life story will be told in the Boardwalk production Spinning Gold, starring Justin Timberlake). "The marriage of visuals and music is constantly evolving. Robin Hood & Marian [can] take this new form to the next level." A stage tour will follow.

Boardwalk co-founder Gary Randall is particularly excited about the 70s project.

"It was the beginning of the end of independent labels and the driving force transitioning into the corporate takeover of the business," he said.

The report also states that Levine has been active in choosing songs and artists to make up the series.

He's recently been busy collecting other artists for Maroon 5's new studio album V, which is due out Sept. 2.
