Perry Farrell revealed Jane's Addiction's future amid Dave Navarro's absence due to his health battle.

Jane's Addiction recently hit a new milestone after marking its first-ever tour with its original bassist, Eric Avery, since 2010. Unfortunately, Navarro's long battle made it impossible for him to join the lineup.

Instead of the guitarist, Jane's Addiction tapped longtime Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen to temporarily replaced him. Josh Klinghoffer and Daniel Ash also assisted the band in some of its shows.

With this development, Farrell recently discussed Jane's Addiction's plans amid its guitarist's absence.

Speaking with Alt Press, the singer explained how Jane's Addiction's uniqueness among any other bands makes it hard for them to ask any guitar player to play with them.

"That's Dave Navarro we're talking about - those are big shoes to fill," he said. "I had one of the best tours of my life. I just love at the end of the show seeing how many happy people there were. We got to them, and that's the best feeling in the world."

Earlier this year, Jane's Addiction started working on a new album. As the band still cannot add Navarro to its lineup, Farrell revealed they would continue working on music even without the guitarist - for now.

As they wait for his return, the frontman expressed his desire to work with Navarro's temporary replacements.

What Happened to Dave Navarro?

Navarro's health battle started when he contracted the COVID-19 virus in 2021. Although he survived the dreaded illness, he revealed in his since-deleted Instagram post that he has been struggling with its lingering effects.

His health issue caused the band not to attend the Welcome to Rockville festival and gave way to Porno for Pyros' first-ever reunion in 26 years instead.

The guitarist also missed Jane's Addiction's appearance at the Lollapalooza festival and tours with the Smashing Pumpkins.

While taking a break from performing, Navarro is dedicating his time to improving his mental health through an art collaboration with LA artist PADHiA. In the past months, they have been creating fine art, street art, and prints, under the name Duel Diagnosis.

"I think in a lot of ways PADHiA [who is a PTSD survivor] and I working together as Duel Diagnosis is part of our recovery process," Navarro told Variety. "I can't tell you how many times we've said to each other, 'Man, if it wasn't for you, I don't know if I would be breathing.' We've had some dark times recently."
