Tory Lanez is one of the most talked-about rappers in the country right now. Not because of his music but because of his highly-publicized felony assault trial against Grammy-winning artist Megan Thee Stallion.

In 2020, Megan Thee Stallion, formally known as Megan Pete, claimed that Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson, shot her in the foot multiple times, leaving her badly injured and undergoing major surgery.

Since then, Peterson denied Pete's claims and insisted that he did not fire the gun.

Numerous hip-hop personalities have meddled in the situation, including Drake, 21 Savage, and 50 Cent, among many others, mostly siding with Peterson in the case.

Pete, who has been vocal in proving that Peterson was, in fact, the one who pulled the trigger and fired at her, has fended off online attacks, harassment, and slanderous statements against her, pointing out that she lied to gain sympathy.

Pete had raised suspicions in the community after failing to admit the real origins of his injury when she was admitted shortly after. It was only after a few days that she came forward and pointed her fingers at Lanez. For her part, she had to lie to the authority to hide Lanez because it was the height of the George Floyd murders and the Black Lives Movement rallies.

But as the months and years went by, Pete stood firm on her statements. The high-profile trial is almost coming to a close, but up until now, there are still no clear suspects. Kelsey Harris, Pete's ex-assistant and ex-best friend, was supposed to corroborate Megan's claims, as she was also present at the alcohol-fueled violent encounter.

In her September 2022 statement, she recalled that it was actually Peterson who fired. However, in her cross-examination last week, she recanted her statements, murking the water even more.

Now, it was reported by Rolling Stone that Peterson refused to testify on his own trial. The publication noted that if the Canadian rapper is convicted and charged, he might be sentenced to 22 years and eight months in prison. This is apart from his deportation from the United States, as he is a Canadian citizen.

According to Wealthy Gorilla, Tory Lanez's Net Worth is only $4 million, all attributed to his music. To date, he has already released seven studio albums, with the last one, "Sorry 4 What," released this 2022.

With the magnitude of this trial and the complexity of the case, it might be highly likely that Tory Lanez's pockets would be drained with the still-announced amount of fine the case would cost and the lawyer fees he would be incurring if he lost the felony assault case.
