Back in 1984, Band Aid, which consisted of some of UK's biggest artists and musicians, came together to record one of the most successful and popular Christmas singles, "Do They Know It's Christmas?"

The song, written by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure, was done to raise funds for Ethiopia, which was going through a famine in 1983 to 1985.

It was released on Dec. 3 and immediately debuted at No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart and stayed there for five weeks.

Following their footsteps is a LadBaby, a pair of British YouTube vloggers, Mark Hoyle and his wife Roxanne, who decided to rework the song into something that is more fitting to today's time and struggles.

According to reports, the pair have been doing reworks of some of the biggest music hits, like "We Built This City" in 2018, "I Love Sausage Rolls" in 2019, and "Don't Stop Me Eatin'" in 2020.

For 2022, they have reworked Band Aid's "Do They Know It's Christmas?" with the goal of raising funds for food bank charity Trussel Trust and Band Aid Trust.

"We never intended to release a fifth Christmas single but as ambassadors of the Trussell Trust we were not prepared to sit back and do nothing in a year when people are struggling more than ever," LadBaby wrote in a statement.

"So, a few months ago we approached Bob Geldof and Midge Ure and the Band Aid Trust to ask permission to rework the most iconic Christmas track of all time, 'Do They Know it's Christmas'. And we were truly honored when they said yes!"

History Making

After the release of their 2019 single, "Sausage Rolls for Everyone," which featured Ed Sheeran and Elton John, made history for being the first-ever act to claim four consecutive Christmas No. 1 songs.

They are about to beat their own record this year with the "Do They Know It's Christmas" rework, as the song skyrocketed to No. 1, beating "Last Christmas" by Wham! As well as "Christmas Drillings" by The Sideman, Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" and "Merry Christmas" by Ed Sheeran and Elton John.

As of this writing, the reworked song sits atop the Top Five Singles, Christmas 2022 chart, BBC reports.

Upon this massive success, Hoyle said: "I think it's an amazing moment [and] hopefully it gets everyone talking and gets everyone supporting food banks all year."
