2022 was a big year for music. Audiences enjoyed the release of several albums that will go down in history as one of the bests.

This year's album releases saw Harry Style's "Harry's House," Taylor Swift's "Midnights," SZA's "SOS," and Kenrick Lamar's "Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers."

But 2023 isn't about to let up because there's a ton of music yet to be heard-look no further because this list compiled some of the most anticipated albums that are slated for release in 2023.

Iggy Pop - "Every Loser"

Iggy Pop took his time curating his nineteenth studio album. At the age of 75, it seems like the Godfather of Punk isn't slowing down anytime soon.

The album will boast 11 songs on its tracklist, including some collaborations with some of the most popular artists in music history like Duff McKagan of Guns N' Roses, Chad Smith from Red Hot Chili Peppers, and many others.

The iconic punk singer noted that his new music is something worth looking out for: "The players are guys I've known since they were kids, and the music will beat the shit out of you."

Lana Del Rey - "Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd"

Lana Del Rey was relatively inactive for the most part of 2022. She did appear on Taylor Swift's "Snow on the Beach" of the "Midnights" album, though.

But unlike her collab song with the "Anti-Hero" singer, Del Rey will reclaim the spotlight as a soloist with her upcoming album "Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd."

The title is quite peculiar and a mouthful, but fans can't help but be excited. After all, most of the material for the album was reported stolen a few months back

This will be the "Born to Die" singer's ninth studio album, following "Blue Banisters," released in 2021. "Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd" is slated for release on Mar. 10.

Metallica - "72 Seasons"

Metallica, one of the world's most iconic bands, is still going strong 41 years since they were formed, and this upcoming album, "72 Seaons," is a testament to that.

The album comes seven years since their last album, "Hardwired... to Self-Destruct," and they want to go big. Alongside the album release will be a massive tour supporting the band's newest release.

Co-founder of the band, James Hetfield, explained the reason behind the album's name: "The first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false selves. The concept that we were told 'who we are' by our parents.

"[...] Much of our adult experience is reenactment or reaction to these childhood experiences. Prisoners of childhood or breaking free of those bondages we carry."

Paramore - "This Is Why"

Three-piece band Paramore started hinting that new music will be coming the fans' way for months now. From cryptic website announcements to creepy music videos, the rock band is officially coming back with a new album and a tour.

"This Is Why" comes six years after its predecessor, "After Laughter," and it really seems like they've been planning for this for quite some time now.

According to Billboard, "This Is Why" will also have an album release show that will take place at Nashville's iconic Grand Ole Pry. Pre-sale for the event is currently on-going. The album is slated to be released on Feb. 3, while the release show will happen on Feb. 6.

Sam Smith - "Gloria"

Sam Smith is one of the UK's biggest soloists, after taking the world by storm with his breakout sing;e "Latch" in 2012.

It has been a decade since then, but he has managed to outdo himself with each release of new material.

Fans are eager to know what kind of music the Grammy-Award-winning singer has in store for 2023. However, it does seem like he has already given fans a hint about what the general vibe of the album will be with the release of his viral song "Unholy," featuring Kim Petras.

Smith's fourth album, "Gloria" comes three years after its predecessor, "Love Goes," released in 2020.

Cardi B

Unlike the other artists on this list, Cardi B's highly-anticipated sophomore album is kept highly confidential.

The "Bodak Yellow" rapper has kept much information about the album to herself, and she hasn't released any singles off of it.

However, that doesn't mean she's forgotten all about it. In fact, she has expressed multiple times just how pressured and anxious she feels about the album release.

On top of that, Cardi B expressed how releasing an album would mean that she would have to return on the road for a tour in support of it-and she doesn't like the idea of leaving her daughter behind.

"For me to take my daughter on tour and s**t, like it's ... I'm just gonna rob her away from things that like she loves to do just because I want her to be close to me and everything," she said in an interview.

Rihanna

Seven years since the release of "Anti" feels like an eternity for most Rihanna fans. The Barbadian singer seems to have forgotten that she used to be a singer before she launched her wildly successful beauty and lingerie brand Fenty.

However, it seems like Rihanna is making a music comeback. With the release of the movie, "Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever," the singer also released her first-ever track in seven years in support of the movie.

Aside from this, she was also named as next year's NFL Super Bowl Halftime headliner. Safe to assume that she's definitely heading back to the recording studio.
