The Hip Hop community just lost one of the biggest stars, Gangsta Boo. The rapper is considered one of the pioneers of female rap and is often referred to as the Queen of Memphis.

According to several reports, Gangsta Boo, born Lola Chantrelle Mitchell, was found dead by a neighbor on her porch on the afternoon of New Year's Day, Jan 1. She was 43.

However, the Three 6 Mafia member's cause of death is largely unknown, as local authorities or her representatives are yet to release any information.

Several of her contemporaries flocked to social media to pay tribute to the late rapper, including Ty Dolla $ign, who tweeted: Long live my home girl Gangsta Boo. Queen of the M!" With a black heart and a crown.

Lil Jon also publicly mourned the loss of his fellow rapper and friend, "man we was jus together 3 weeks ago. Rest well [Queen]," he wrote.

DJ Paul took to Instagram to share a picture of Gangsta Boo messing out with an iDJ console with a blunt in hand.

Other members of the Hip Hop community, like 2Chainz, B-Real, Lil Jon, and Duke Deuce, expressed their grief and shock at the sudden news.

Beloved Queen

Gangsta Boo was a member of The Three 6 Mafia, before she left in 2001. In an interview following the news of her sudden departure from the group, she simply explained: "There's no problem. Sometimes people grow apart, and basically, that's what it is."

"I'm not cursing in my music no more. We just grew apart like a marriage," she added.

While she remains relevant to this day, Gangsta Boo has been in the rap game for decades already.

According to reports, her career began back in the '90's. Aside from her collaboration works with some of the industry's big names, like Gucci Mane, Lil Jon, Juicy J, Crunchy Black, and Koopsta Knicca, she has enjoyed a successful solo career as well.

In 1998, she released her debut studio album "Where Dem Dollas At," which became a regional hit and resulted in many recognizing her as one of the pioneers of female rap.

It seems like Gangsta Boo's death was truly sudden and unexpected, as she had just expressed her interest in collaborating with other female rappers in a recent interview with Billboard.

"I think bridging the gap is pretty much all we got to do, and there is a lot of female unity that supports each other and stuff," she said about other younger and newer female rappers.

"As long as you just show respect and keep supporting each other, whether it's from afar or up close, I think it'll be cool."

She also noted: "Gangsta Boo walked so a lot of people could run."
