Early 2000s were dominated by bands - one of which is M2M, a Norwegian girl pair. Marion Raven and Marit Larsen avoided dancing breaks and instead performed their own instruments on songs such as "Don't Say You Love Me" and "Mirror Mirror," which were their debut single and second single, respectively.

M2M Songs

Both did really, really good, so much so that you wouldn't meet someone from that generation that do not know these songs by heart.

Their PG-rated, but mostly on young love, lyrics and music videos actually contributed to their fame, as their first hit was used in "Pokemon: The Movie" in 1999.

After the film's release, M2M's popularity increased, and in 2000 they produced their debut album,"Shades of Purple." The critically acclaimed record sold 1.5 million copies worldwide, and the duo was invited to tour with Hanson the same year. M2M appeared on numerous television programs, such as Top of the Pops, All That, and MTV's Hot Zone.

Additionally, they performed at Walt Disney World's Epcot, and the event was later broadcast on Disney Channel. This newfound popularity prompted Marion and Marit to record and release a second album in 2002, but by that time, their novelty had worn off, and the album did not do as well as their debut.

"The Big Room" boasted a more mature sound, and several of the hits were even aired on Dawson's Creek, but it was not enough to make their fandom bigger than it was. While on tour with Jewel, M2M were dropped by their record label. Shortly after returning to Norway, they ended their relationship.

Atlantic first offered Marion a solo recording contract, but then retracted it. Larsen stated in a 2007 interview that M2breakup M's was amicable, but stated it was because they just really wanted to do very different things - she wanted pop, while Marion wanted rock. Marion and Marit were not willing to give up music, despite the dissolution of M2M. Before pursuing solo careers, they published a best hits album, "The Day You Went Away: The Best of M2M," in 2003.

Where are Marion Raven and Marit Larsen Now?

Marion and Marit have not been in the news since the early 2000s, but this does not mean they are wallowing and avoiding the music scene altogether. In the years that followed, both Marit and Marion made solo albums, although Marion appears to have achieved greater worldwide success than her childhood friend and former bandmate Marit.

Since M2M disbanded, the 33-year-old has recorded seven albums and written songs for performers such as Pixie Lott and Lindsay Lohan.

She also voiced Rapunzel in the Norwegian version of the Disney film "Tangled."

Meanile, Marit did not immediately pursue a solo career after parting ways with Marion.

In 2006, she released her debut solo album, "Under the Surface," after completing high school. Since she won the prize for Best Norwegian Artist at the MTV Europe Music Awards that year, she has dominated the Norwegian charts.

Obviously, they may no longer be popular in the United States, but they continue to have considerable success in Norway and Europe. Time will tell if a M2M reunion is possible, since stranger things have had happened!
