DJ Khaled is starting a new era this 2023 as he's leaving his previous record label to sign with a new company where he'll release new music in the future. In addition, the producer also appears to venture out into other creative fields as he landed a position at Universal Music Group.

According to Variety, the 47-year-old DJ was previously under Epic Records, a label under Sony Music. Today, he made a big move by signing with Def Jam Records where he first started as an A&R executive.

The recent deal also made him reunite with EVP LaTrice Burnette who became one of the key people to his success at Epic. In his previous label, he was able to release five studio albums and four of them became massively successful after debuting at number one on the charts.

The music producer, whose real name is Khaled Mohamed Khaled, spoke to the outlet to express his gratitude to Epic Records chairman Sylvia Rhone for their friendship and history as he spent several years with the company before making his career move.

Regarding his work in Universal Music Group, Khaled said he and CEO Lucian Grainge have always discussed about him "coming back home" as he previously worked with them, and getting the job today felt like it was "written" for him.

"I felt like this is beautiful. I could have went anywhere in the Universal system and I chose Def Jam because of Tunji and LaTrice," he added.

DJ Khaled is now the Global Creative Consultant for UMG and the reason why he took the job was that he wanted to spread his "talent and greatness" because he knows many people in the Universal system and he could help them all not just in music, but also for other industries like television, films, and marketing.

"I'm here to spread my talent. I feel like I can help everybody. ... Lucian wanted me to add me to the team as a global creative consultant, and I was honored," he added.

The musician closed his previous era with a legendary performance with Jay-Z, John Legend, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, and Fridayy at this year's Grammy Awards. He was also nominated for six nods at the prestigious event.
