Following her successful and now-iconic Super Bowl Halftime Show performance, Rihanna has been announced to be performing at the 95th Academy Awards on Mar. 12, 2023.

Rihanna swept the world as everyone was glued on her highly-anticipated comeback performance at the Super Bowl last Feb. 12, 2023, at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

She made headlines not just because of her performance but also for sneaking a pregnancy reveal at the start of the show.

Now, Rihanna, whose song "Lift Me Up" was part of the soundtrack for "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," has been highly nominated during the most recent Awards season.

"Lift Me Up" was written by Swedish composer Ludwig Göransson, Tems, and director Ryan Coogler and performed by Rihanna. It was nominated for Best Original Song at the Golden Globe Awards and the Academy Awards, among many other recordings.

It has already won 4 awards so far, including Best Original Song in a Feature Film at the 13th Hollywood Music in Media Awards and Best Song at the 2023 African-American Film Critics Association. Most recently, it won Outstanding Soundtrack/Compilation Album at the 2023 NAACP Image Awards.

Rihanna Oscars Performance

According to Billboard, Rihanna's Oscars Performance setlist isn't as grand at the Super Bowl, as she would only be performing "Lift Me Up."

This got netizens asking online: does this mean Rihanna is going home with her first-ever Oscar Award?

In the case of the Oscars, not every artist invited to perform at the Oscars guarantee their win in the category they were nominated in.

Eminem, who was nominated for his song "Lose Yourself" in 2003, was the only song on the nominees who did not perform. He won the award that night, but he gave a surprise performance the year after.

Last year, Billie Eilish did not perform her song "No Time To Die," but still won the award. Sebastian Yatra sang Encanto's "Dos Oroguitas" but lost to Eilish.

This meant that not just because Rihanna was invited to perform - she would automatically be taking home the award.

Variety predicts that "Lift Me Up" is in second place for the award - "RRR" from "Naatu Naatu" by Kala Bhairava, M. M. Keeravani, and Rahul Sipligunj is pressed to win the Academy Award. Although the publication gave merit to Rihanna as her Super Bowl performance surely gave her a boost on possibly beating the front runner. "RRR" won Best Original Song at the Golden Globe Awards, where Rihanna was also nominated.
