Michael Jackson planned to marry Princess Diana, the late singer's bodyguard said in a new shocking revelation.

Jackson was linked to several women before he married Lisa Marie Presley. While he also sparked a romance with Brooke Shields, his plan to marry Princess Diana took the spotlight.

Talks about the late King of Pop's romantic feelings toward the late royal emerged after a taped conversation between him and his confidante, Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, emerged. As quoted by The Mirror, the "The Way You Make Me Feel" singer said he loved Princess Diana, calling her his "type."

Michael Jackson Wanted To Marry Princess Diana

Jackson's former bodyguard, Matt Fiddes, revealed further details about the singer's hopeless devotion to Princess Diana. He told Daily Star that Jackson spent thousands of pounds to have late night calls with the princess while she was at Kensington Palace.

He and Princess Diana met during a London performance of his Bad tour in 1988. At that time, he did not perform his hit song "Dirty Diana," out of respect for the royal, although she wanted him to perform it.

"Michael told me he loved her, and he was in love with her, and he wanted to marry her. He told me she was his ideal wife," Matt said. "He felt an immediate bond with her as soon as they met. They were both very shy individuals and he loved her, he wanted to marry her."

From being friends, Jackson and Princess Diana soon spent hours talking via phone call. According to Fiddes, the duo's shared pain made them grow closer. The bodyguard said Jackson felt Princess Diana was the only person who could understand him and his life.

In a 1997 interview with Barbara Walters, Jackson recalled seeing Prince Charles walk toward him and Princess Diana as they talked.

Jackson soon married Lisa Marie Presley but divorced in 1996. During the same year, he married American nurse, Debbie Rowe, at the Sheraton on the Park Hotel in Sydney, Australia, and they shared two children together.

In 1999, Rowe asked him for a divorce, with the singer agreeing to it in October of that year. He gave him $10 million in a settlement and received full custody rights to her children.
