Fans were saddened after Rod Stewart canceled his show in Australia recently. He was down under for a performance with Cyndi Lauper and John Stevens. However, due to a "viral infection," the highly-anticipated show will not push through.

Taking to his official Instagram, the British legend issued a statement, saying he was "absolutely downhearted" that he's going to disappoint his supporters who already purchased tickets for his "A Day On The Green" tour at Mt. Duneed Estate in Geelong.

The musician explained he was advised by doctors that he has a "viral infection" and his throat is too irritated for him to sing.

Rod Stewart Health History Explored

The rock star had suffered many health woes in the past. In 2019, the musician announced that he was finally cleared of prostate cancer after fighting the disease for over two years.

According to People Magazine, the British singer was diagnosed with the condition in 2016. Doctors found out about his cancer when he underwent a routine check-up.

The musician chose to hide his cancer from the public and he only revealed it during a Postate Project fundraiser. During his speech, Stewart said, "No one knows this, but I thought this was about time I told everybody. I'm in the clear, now, simply because I caught it early. I have so many tests."

At the time, he encouraged fans to get checked and tested regularly to prevent diseases to spread.

Although the condition only last for a short period, the singer said he did lose his voice and it was a scary experience for him because he "couldn't sing a note."
