Tory Lanez has filed an appeal three months after being convicted guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion.

In court records obtained by the source, the criminal defense attorney for the "Say It" rapper, Jose Baez, argues that his client's conviction should be overturned since "irrelevant evidence" was introduced at trial.

TMZ reports that  Baez asserts that a shirtless photograph of Lanez, whose actual name is Daystar Peterson, clutching a gun to his chest was used to show the jury that his client had a penchant for weapons.

The attorney also claims that prosecutors' threat to disclose the "Jerry Sprunger" rapper's rap lyrics to the jury was a "reversible error."

In addition, Baez feels it was improper for the jury to hear an 80-minute interview with Megan's ex-best friend Kelsey Harris, who was in the car with both rappers the night of the shooting. Harris' interview proved detrimental to Lanez's case, despite the fact that she eventually recanted the majority of her statements.

Page Six has reached out to Lanez and Megan's team for comment, but no response has been received as of yet. Lanez was convicted in December 2022 of shooting Megan, born Megan Pete, in the back of her foot following a verbal dispute in July 2020 after leaving Kylie Jenner's residence.

He was charged with one felony count each of assault with a semi-automatic firearm (personal use of a firearm) and transportation of a loaded, unlicensed handgun. He was also convicted of negligently discharging a handgun, a separate criminal charge. During the trial, the 28-year-old "Hot Girl Summer" rapper recounted the circumstances that led to her devastating foot injuries.

Megan asserted that Lanez, 30, fired multiple shots at her while yelling, "Dance, girl!" after a dispute about their sexual relationship and individual musical careers had begun. During her testimony, the Houston native stated that she was stunned and then terrified.

In addition, she alleged that Lanez offered her and Harris $1 million to remain silent about the incident. Megan's attorney, Alex Spiro, told Page Six following the judgmentv that the jury got it right.
