Christina Aguilera was one of the main pop girls back in the early 2000s-back when celebs wore daring fits and low-waisted bottoms.

During her appearance on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast with host Alex Cooper, the "Beautiful" singer revealed that it was not always a walk in the park being a female artist back in the day.

"There was a lot of double standards with it," Aguilera said. "Because I went on tour with Justin, we did the Stripped [&] Justified tour, and there were things where I was just like, 'Why is it okay for him and not okay for me, you know what I mean?'"

However, if there is one thing that fans should probably know about the singer, it's that she won't ever go down without a fight.

"I was constantly pushing back in my way," she continued. "It was so inappropriate sometimes, the things [the media] asked about that era."

Double Standards

The 42-year-old singer agreed that the double standards is definitely there despite achieving a certain level and amount of fame.

Cooper described the situation like this: "comparison of a man doing the same thing - it's like, 'I'm doing the same thing and I'm being called a slut, and he's, like, the boy next door.'"

Aguilera detailed her experience as a young female artist navigating her way through life, career, and constant media attention.

Not to mention everybody was pitting her against other young female artists, like Britney Spears.

"I was like, 'I have to do songs that mean something to me and are valid to who I am and being fearless and talking about anything,'" the singer explained.

nd that includes sexuality! I felt that there was a lot of shame and fear around the subject ... so I just wanted to be who I was and make a safe space for everyone to feel food - and make it a conversation."

Changed Landscape

It has been two decades since then, and Aguilera is hopeful that the landscape has changed and that female artists don't have to endure such demeaning treatment from fans and the media.

It has also come to her attention that female artists have banded and bonded together, instead of having beef with each other.

"I'm just so excited to see more women supporting women because now you're cutting through the middle man a lot more," Aguilera concluded. "Which is really, really nice."

Aside from being dubbed the "Voice of a Generation," Aguilera has strived to make her mark and call out injustices in relation to domestic violence, sexuality, and feminism.
