After two studio albums, Latto's biggest song to date has still been the Grammy-nominated "Big Energy." The track, which seemingly interpolated and sampled various tracks, is her highest charting single on the Billboard Hot 100 charts at No. 3.

But unbeknownst to many, "Big Energy" wasn't something that Latto had originally worked on, as it was supposed to be given to Cardi B instead.

Latto 'Big Energy' Not Her Original Work

Theron Thomas, one half of the duo R.City, is credited as a songwriter for Latto's "Big Energy" along with the female rapper and A1 LaFlare.

While everyone thought that it was Latto's work, turns out, it wasn't. Thomas gave an interview with See, The Thing Is... podcast and revealed that the song he had come up with was actually intended for Cardi B and not Latto.

Per Thomas, he wrote it for Cardi B; and when he went to Hawaii and met Latto.

"When I meet an artist and they tell me they want to do something, it's like, okay cool. Cardi never got to hear it. We didn't get it to her," he revealed.

Thomas worked with Latto, A1 LaFlare, and even the embattled Dr. Luke, among many other producers. But when asked if he wrote Latto's bars - he had a straightforward answer.

Elaborating more on how the record came about, Thomas revealed that he made the "skeleton" of the song.

"Latto changed the verses, the words.. She made it Latto!" Thomas confessed, saying that Latto made the track better with her added lyrics and modifications.

Asked about how much time the record took from creation to finishing touches, Thomas said that it took a month to make the track the one that it is today.

"Big Energy" had a remix with Mariah Carey after Latto failed to recruit Nicki Minaj on it. It was revealed that Latto sent the track multiple times to Minaj in an effort to get her onboard. Latto and Nicki have since been in a feud after the former insulted her on Twitter in a very public spat.

Latto Coachella Performance Photos Photoshopped?

On Twitter, netizens slammed Latto for apparently photoshopping her Coachella crowd photos to seemingly make it more packed.

Latto originally posted the photos on her account but eagle-eyed netizens saw it and called her out for it. In the same performance, Latto seemed to take shots a Nicki Minaj by rapping an unreleased snippet of a song she has been working on.
