Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie were once both members of one of the most prominent rock bands, Fleetwood Mac.

Their decades-long bond was disrupted, however, when McVie suddenly passed away late last year. Fleetwood Mac members mourned her death and paid tribute to her.

But perhaps one of the members who was most affected by her death was Nicks, who cherished the late singer like a sister.

During her show in Atlanta, Nicks revealed to the audience what helped her get through the devastating heartbreak of losing a friend.

"Thank you to Taylor Swift for doing a favor for me, and that is, writing a song called 'You're on Your Own, Kid,'" the singer said. "That is the sadness of how I feel."

A Bond Like No Other

Fleetwood Mac broke up several times over the years, and the lineup of the original members has been changed many times as well.

While the music was great, the chemistry among members was not always smooth sailing. There were definitely times when one member hated another.

However, despite the broken bonds within the band, Nicks said that McVie and herself have never experienced going through a fight-even long after their departure from the band.

"Even on the other side of the world, we didn't have to talk on the phone," the "Edge of Seventeen" singer continued.

"And then we'd go back to Fleetwood Mac and we'd walk in and just be like, 'Little sister, how are you.' It was like never a minute had passed. Never an argument in our entire 47 years."

McVie's Passing

According to reports, the "Songbird" singer died in November 2022 after suffering a stroke.

While the singer's family initially did not disclose McVie's real cause of death, it was later revealed to be related to cancer.

Following her tragic death, Nicks took to social media and penned a tribute to her friend: "A few hours ago I was told that my best friend in the whole world since the first day of 1975 had passed away."

"See you on the other side, my love. Don't forget me."

She once again paid tribute to her pal and fellow singer during her Atlanta show and explained how she related to Swift's song.

"The two of us were on our own, kids," she said. "We always were. And now, I'm having to learn to be on my own, kid, by myself. You helped me to do that. Thank you."
