Katy Perry chose one musician who could become the next "American Idol" judge.

Since "American Idol" Season 16, Perry has been serving the show as a judge alongside Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. In a new interview, she shared how it feels like to be the only woman on the show, leading her to invite one more music act.

Katy Perry Sends Invitation to Lizzo

Perry sat for an interview with Buzzfeed over the weekend, during which she was asked about the most challenging part of being an "American Idol" judge. The 38-year-old said she found it difficult to be the only woman on the panel with a strong opinion.

As for the solution, the "Last Friday Night" hitmaker suggested having Lizzo on board.

"Lizzo, I'm asking you to join the panel," she said. "I'm feeling a little outnumbered on the testosterone. I could really use some bold, honest, hot takes."

Lizzo is yet to respond to the invitation, but she got the chance to become a judge in the "American Idol" next season after season 21 ended on May 21. Iam Tongi was announced the winner, while Megan Danielle and Collin Stough secured second and third spots, respectively.

Katy Perry Leaving "American Idol"?

Perry's invitation to Lizzo ignited the rumors that she would truly quit the show to focus on her family.

The judge has been the subject of online criticism due to her "rude and provocative" comments toward "American Idol" contestants. In response to this, a source alleged that the singer had already expressed her desire to quit after serving the show for six years since she felt she was thrown under the bus.

The insider told Daily Mail that "American Idol" seemingly edited footage to make her look like a nasty judge, and the team reportedly did it "intentionally."

The source also revealed that Perry had been thinking of leaving "American Idol" for some time now, especially since she feels upset whenever she gets booed at. Once she leaves, the singer will lose her reported $25 million-per-season paycheck.

"[Katy's decision to quit] is not a money thing," the insider added. "For her, it is starting to be more of a legacy issue. She does not want her career defined by a talent competition show where she isn't even performing."

Perry has not commented on the rumors yet.
