So when he turned 30, he received a gift from his friends.

"There wasn't one human being on the planet that thought we'd get past 30 years old," he said. "In fact, when I turned 30 all my friends clubbed together and got me a wheelchair."

His sobriety journey started when he received advice that he should have a "whatever it takes" attitude.

The singer recalled coming out of the hospital and feeling no desire to drink already, calling the event like a Biblical miracle to him. Since Cooper is a religious person, he begins to think that God took his desire for alcohol and drugs away from him.

Decades after overcoming his struggles, Cooper is now having the life he always wanted. He is set to release two new albums while gearing up for a tour with the Hollywood Vampires.
