After 50 years of performing, KISS has finally announced their last show ever and fans are both sad and happy at the same time.

More recently, frontman Gene Simmons spoke out about the main reason why the band decided to end their five-decade journey as rockers.

The rocker spoke with The Sunday Project sharing his thoughts about the upcoming retirement concert, saying it's important for the group's members to hang their costumes while they are still active.

"At a certain point Mother Nature takes over no matter what your plans are. And at a certain time, you've gotta have the dignity and pride but also the love and admiration of your fans to know when it's time to call it quits," he told the outlet. (via 105.7 KOKZ Iowa)

He added that there are boxers who stay in the ring for too long as well as musicians who perform despite their age, and it seems like they don't want to reach that point.

Later on, Simmons said they still look good despite their age, but he also realized that the physical aspects will hinder them in the future, so it was better for them to retire as early as now as they could still perform.

KISS Final Show in New York City

KISS has been touring for their retirement concerts since 2019 and they're finally ready to close the curtain as they announced their final show ever.

In early reports, the band announced their retirement concert when they dropped by "The Howard Stern Show" earlier this year, saying they will take the stage of Madison Square Garden in New York City on December 1 and 2, 2023.

Member Paul Stanley revealed why it took them a long time to conclude their series of concerts, saying the pandemic was a big factor because they lost two years.
