Nicki Minaj is the target of a swatting hoax, according to the Sheriff's Department, in which a caller falsely claimed Nicki's child was being abused and her home was on fire.
According to law enforcement sources, the attempted hoax occurred earlier this month when child services received an anonymous tip alleging child abuse at Nicki's Los Angeles-area residence.
Per TMZ, sheriff's deputies arrived at Nicki's residence around 6 p.m. on Monday, but after speaking with Nicki and her husband, Kenneth Petty... and observing their almost 3-year-old child, they determined that no maltreatment had occurred and that everything was in order.
According to TMZ, deputies identified it as a swatting call, and officers want the public to know that such calls are a waste of time and resources. For the uninitiated, swatting is a type of prank call in which the objective is to elicit a large police response at someone's residence... and it is a developing problem for police departments across the nation.
Nicki Minaj is not the only celebrity to experience swatting messages. It recently occurred to YouTuber Adin Ross and influencer Madison Beer, as we first reported.

On Saturday, June 10, it was reported that "Barbie World" would be released on June 23.
"It's BARBIE B!CH️️️ If you still in doubt," Minaj teased on her post, while Ice Spice captioned hers "bad like da barbie."
Fans can pre-order the Barbie track, which features Aqua alongside Minaj and Ice Spice.
Prior to this, the two artists collaborated on a remix of "Princess Diana," which atop April's Hot Rap Songs chart on Billboard. It was the first time in the 34-year history of the list that two women shared the number one position.
It also reached No. 4 on the Hot 100 chart. The Barbie film is directed by Greta Gerwig and will debut in theaters nationwide on July 21. In addition, the film's full star-studded soundtrack will be released at the same time. Minaj stated this week that her first album in five years will be released shortly. The deadline is October 20.
