Katy Perry may not have released new music recently, but that does not mean that she is no longer relevant in pop music. In fact, it might just be the opposite.

According to reports, the "American Idol" judge just earned a new milestone in her music career after her hit single released over a decade ago, "California Gurls" was certified diamond by the Record Industry Association of America or RIAA.

The song comes from Pery's sophomore album "Teenage Dream," and was the album's first single, alongside "Teenage Dream," "Firework," "E.T.," "Last Friday Night (TGIF)," and "The One That Got Away."

This now means that the singer holds the record for the most diamond-certified singles among female artists; she beat Lady Gaga, who currently boasts three certified singles for "Bad Romance," "Just Dance," and "Poker Face."

"California Gurls" features Snoop Dogg, and joins Perry's other certified singles like "Firework," "Dark Horse," and "Roar."

Katy Perry Celebrates Anniversaries

Perry established her career with her debut studio album "One of the Boys," and solidified it with "Teenage Dream," but "Prism" made her a household name.

She is now celebrating the 15th anniversary of "One of the Boys" by releasing a new deluxe version of it, including two unreleased songs from the vault: "Cup of Coffee" and "I Think I'm Ready."

To sweeten the pot, the singer is also going to release anniversary box sets for "Teenage Dream" and "Prism", which with both be celebrating its 13th and 10th anniversaries, respectively.

"I don't really believe in anniversaries, I don't typically acknowledge them, but this was too good to be true this year. The math totally mathed," Perry enthusiastically shared in an Instagram post. "Those are monumental numbers and I figured we'd do something special with them."

The deluxe album box sets can be pre-ordered through her website for $99, while the two unreleased songs are available for streaming now.

The limited edition version of "One of the Boys" will also include a vinyl as well as a 2024 calendar.
