Fans, friends, and family have been missing Cory Monteith and today is the perfect day to pay tribute to the actor as he passed away exactly ten years ago. More recently, his then-girlfriend, Lea Michele, shared an emotional letter to remember their memories.

Taking to her official Instagram account, the Broadway actor shared a black-and-white photo of herself along with the late "Glee" star.

In the caption, the "Funny Girl" star wrote, "Hey you. 10 years. It feels like only yesterday that you were here and yet a million years ago all at the same time."

The singer/performer added that she still holds all of their memories in her heart and they would stay safe there forever. She also noted that all of the times they cherished together will never be forgotten.

"We miss you every day and will never forget the light you to brought to us all. I miss you big guy," she wrote. (via Billboard)

Michele then concluded her post by hoping that Monteith "found Taylor [Hawkins] up there and are playing the drums together."

Cory Monteith Death

Cory Monteith's death shocked many fans from all around the globe as it was untimely and unexpected. According to E! News, the actor/singer passed away at the Fairmont Pacific Hotel in July 2013.

He reportedly missed his check-out time and later that day, he was dead alone in his room.

Authorities confirmed that there was no foul play involved, but his cause of death was not released immediately.

Days later, an autopsy and toxicity screening was released to the public which indicated that the late actor died due to overdose (mixed drug toxicity) and some of the substances found in his body were alcohol and heroin.

"This was an overdose and a tragic accident," a spokesman for the Vancouver Police Department said at the time.

Cory Monteith Remembered by Former Co-Stars

Lea Michele isn't the only "Glee" star who remembered Cory Monteith on his 10th death anniversary. His co-star, Kevin McHale, who played the role of Artie Abrams, took to his official Twitter account to recall what happened the day he found out the tragic news.

The actor shared that he was in London with Naya Rivera ten years ago today and they immediately met up with each other after finding out the "worst possible news.

Throughout that day, McHale said there was a mixture of emotions that they both felt. Ten years later, "not a day has gone by where I don't miss you - both of you. Thanks for sharing your light with us for as brief as it was." (via Deadline)

Maya Rivera, also a cast member of "Glee," passed away in 2020. She reportedly drowned in Lake Piru in California.
