On Aug. 9, 2023, Tory Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in jail by Judge David Herriforrd of the Los Angeles County Superior Court. This was after he got convicted for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot in 2020 after a heated altercation.

Despite everything that happened, Tory Lanez doubled down on his innocence as he released a lengthy statement addressing his sentence.

Tory Lanez Innocent on Shooting Megan Thee Stallion?

In a post on Instagram, Now-convicted and sentenced Canadian rapper Tory Lanez issued his first statement since he was sentenced to 10 years in jail.

"I have never let a hard time intimidate me, I will never let no jail time eliminate me. Regardless of how they spin my words, I have always maintained my innocence and I always will, he said in a statement addressing his fanbase, the Umbrellas.

According to Tory Lanez, formally known as Daystar Peterson, he took responsibility only for "all verbal and intimate moments" that he shared with all the parties involved - nothing else.

In no way shape or form was I apologizing for the charges I'm being wrongfully convicted of. I remain on the stance that I refuse to apologize for something I did not do," he further explained.

Per Lanez, he had faced adversity throughout his whole life and although it looked like he would lose, he eventually came on top. He likened the situation to another losing moment he had back then while also promising "not to stop fighting" until he comes out victorious.

"Tough times don't last, tough people do" he said, before thanking his fans, family, and friends who have supported him throughout.

Iggy Azalea Supports Tory Lanez

Among the influential rappers that backed up Tory Lanez was Iggy Azalea. However, she received flak on Twitter after debunking stories that she had not talked to Lanez for a while and not supporting him outright.

When Legal Affairs Journalist Meghann Cuniff posted her entire letter of support sent to Judge Herriford, it obviously shows her adoration, appreciation, and support for Tory Lanez and his innocence.

"We've remained friends since and what I've come to understand about Daystar is: he's genuinely passionate about helping others. He will go out of his way to help someone he sees even a glimmer of greatness inside," she said somewhere in the now-viral letter.
