It is now official! As Morgan Wallen's hit song "Last Night" rebounds to No. 1 this week, it is now the longest-running No. 1 hit for a non-collaboration and the 2nd longest-running No. 1 hit for a track overall in the chart's 65-year history.

Morgan Wallen is making a huge stride into his career as the country music genre continues to dominate the music scene.

'Last Night' Becomes 2nd Longest-Running Song At #1

According to Billboard, "Last Night," the lead single of Morgan Wallen's equally hit album, "One Thing At A Time," officially becomes the second longest-running song at No. 1 after it rebounded to the top spot on the charts dating Aug. 4-10, 2023.

Luminate, Billboard's data cruncher, reported that the song racked up 59.6 radio airplay impressions on its 16th week at No. 1, along with 5,000 downloads, and 26.3 million streams.

The song ascended to No. 1 on the Streaming Songs Chart, back to No. 4 from Digital Song Sales, but dipped to No. 6 on Radio Songs, this week.

"Last Night" officially surpassed "As It Was" for being the longest-running No. 1 hit sung by a solo artist with no collaborations as it reached its 16th week at the top of the charts.

Currently, "Last Night" ties in with two other songs on the 16-week mark. "Despacito" by Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee feat. Justin Bieber reached 16 weeks, with the last chart peak on May 2017. Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day" also reached the 16-week mark, with its last peak in 1995.

If "Last Night" spends three more weeks at No. 1 on the charts, it would tie with Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus' "Old Town Road." If it spends another week (or more) after that, it would officially become the longest-running #1 hit in music history, spending 20 weeks atop the Hot 100 charts.

Meanwhile, the song is a huge league on its own front at the Hot Country Songs chart where it continues to lead for 25 consecutive weeks at the top of the chart. It is halfway on its track to beat Bebe Rexha and Georgia Line's "Meant To Be," which spent 50 weeks from 2017 to 2018 at the top.

'Last Night' At the Grammys

It was projected that "Last Night" by Morgan Wallen could be a front-runner for both Best Country Song, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year at the 2024 Grammy Awards.

Notably, the songs besides its Billboard Hot 100 chart rankings were either nominated or won a Grammy one way or another.

"As It Was" was nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Music Video, and Best Pop Performance. Similarly, "Despacito" won Latin Grammy Awards for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Urban Fusion/Performance, and Best Short Form Music Video.

Meanwhile, "One Sweet Day" was nominated for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals and Record of the Year. On the other hand, "Old Town Road" was nominated for Record of the Year and won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Music Video.

Morgan Wallen has yet to be nominated for a Grammy in his career. Would it be his first nomination and win?
