Amidst rumors of a failing marriage, Nick Cannon is getting back to his roots and releasing a children's poetry book that will feature rhymes he's been working on since he was 8 years old.

On Tuesday, Scholastic announced that Cannon's Neon Aliens Ate My Homework and Other Poems would be published in March 2015. The book will feature black-and-white illustrations from "several street artists and reflect Cannon's desire to combine poetry and hip-hop," according to CBS News.

This January, Scholastic announced that it would be publishing a co-written children's book by Cannon and spouse Mariah Carey, Roc and Roe's Twelve Days of Christmas, in October. Aimed toward children ages 3 and up, the picture book will feature the celebrity couple's 2-year-old twins Morroccan Scott and Monroe, as they maneuver through the classic carol "The 12 Days of Christmas" with their own unique twists.

But all is not well with Cannon and his wife, Mariah Carey. As reported earlier, the couple has decided to end their six-year marriage.

Our own Erika Benton-Martin explained the root of the problem a couple of weeks ago:

The couple's individual careers also reportedly created some rifts in the relationship.

Carey was upset that Cannon took every job he was offered, even when they didn't need the money. She's especially angry because it keeps him away from their kids.

"I will be sitting at home alone, just alone, pining away, being like, 'Thanks Nick, hope you're having fun at All Star Weekend,'" she told ET when asked about her Valentine's Day plans. "I can't be mad at him, he's working, you know? I know a lot of people that don't work at all. So, let's be happy that the man is working and I know he'll be with us, and he's in our hearts."

Cannon says Carey has become impossible because she only keeps "yes men" around her and can't handle when he disagrees with her.
