Kelsea Ballerini

Among those who were announced is country star Kelsea Ballerini, who is also celebrating her 30th Birthday at the time. Notably, this would also mark Ballerini's debut performance on the VMA stage. She will be performing an expanded version of her EP "Rolling Up The Welcome Mat."

Anitta

Anitta is making a grand return to the VMA stage after last year's sizzling medley of performances of "Envolver," "Bola Rebola" and "Vai Malandra." She won Best Latin Video last year with "Envolver," making her the first Brazilian artist to win a Moonman. She is also nominated this year in the same category for "Funk Rave," which she is expected to perform too.

TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TxT)

Korean super group TOMORROW X TOGETHER or TXT will also be performing. Billboard reported that they will be premiering a new single and teaming up with Anitta to bring the first genre-blending K-Pop collaboration to the show. The group is nominated for its first VMA award with Best K-Pop and Push Performance of the Year both for "Sugar Rush Ride."

Lil Wayne

Weezy will also be making a huge return to the VMA stage as he performs "Kat Food," a single released later on Sep. 1, 2023. It was noted that this was Lil Wayne's first performance at the VMA stage in a decade. He's nominated for Best Hiphop for "Kant Nobody," a collaboration he had with Swizz Beatz and DMX.

Doja Cat

Expected to peak at No. 1 this coming week on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for "Paint The Town Red," Doja Cat is returning too as she is nominated for five Moonmans this year - Artist of the Year, Video of the Year, Best Direction, Best Art Direction, and Best Collaboration.

The five new artists are in addition to the previously announced ones like Karol G, Maneskin, Demi Lovato, and Stray Kids. Shakira will also be receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award this year, making her the first artist of South American descent to win the award.
