Demi Lovato's interview with Howard Stern on his SiriusXM show was insightful, to say the least; she opened up about her past relationships, sobriety, and even sexuality.

During the interview, Lovato explained how "Cool For The Summer," one of her viral hit songs that was initially released in 2015, was a monumental release, as it is sort of her coming out song.

"I actually released it before I came out as bisexual," Lovato revealed during her appearance on "The Howard Stern Show" earlier this week.

"When I came out, my dad was like, 'Yeah, you have a song called 'Cool for the Summer,'" she continued.

Apparently, the singer wrote the song about a "famous woman" she hooked up with. When prodded further about the mystery woman and whether she knows the song is about her, Lovato simply responded, "No."

"[She's] in a relationship now," the "Heart Attack" singer added, and that revealing her identity "would be inappropriate."

Demi Lovato Choses Sobriety

Elsewhere in the interview, Lovato also talked about being sober after years and years of coming in and out of rehab.

"When you're in so much pain the consequences don't matter, you just want to escape or numb out. I put numbing out before everything in my life," she explained.

"When I choose drugs I'm choosing them over family, over friends, over my career, over essentially everything. And that's the way that I use."

Lovato began her career as a child actress in Disney Channel before eventually becoming a singer.

It has taken her years to "work through it," but she also acknowledges it and is now at peace with her past.

However, the "Give Your Heart a Break" singer is definitely experiencing some negative side effects of her drug use.

Demi Lovato Health Update

According to reports, Lovato admitted that her drug use, which ultimately led to an overdose, left some pretty damaging and lasting effects.

"I still actually have vision problems to this day. I don't drive anymore because I have blind spots in my vision," she revealed. "It killed off some cells that didn't repair."

Lovato finally decided to turn her life around and choose sobriety in December 2021. Since then, she has focused more on her music career and has re-recorded several of her old releases and made rock versions of the songs.

"After going through even more stuff last year, I came out of treatment again and I realized, I really want to do this for myself, and I want to make the best album possible - something that really represents who I am."
