Michael McGrath, a Tony Award-winning actor popularly known for several on stage performances like his role on "Nice Work If You Can Get It," has passed away at the age of 64.

His publicist, Lisa Goldberg, has confirmed the tragic news that the actor died in Bloomfield, New Jersey.

However, there were no other details revealed, therefore leaving the cause of his death a mystery.

According to Billboard, McGrath had a blossoming career in Broadway as he was able to star in several productions like "Tootsie," "Plaza Suite," "She Loves Me," "Spamalot," and many more.

In addition to his on-stage work, he also appeared on some television programs like "The Martin Short Show."

His biggest achievement came in 2012 as he won the best actor featured in a musical role at the Tony Awards thanks to his work in "Nice Work If You Can Get It" along with Kelli O'Hara and Matthew Brodecrick.

Kristin Chenoweth, a renowned theater actor, took to her official X account (formerly known as Twitter) to react about Michael McGrath's death.

"Michael McGrath was a comedic genius and my dear friend. This is the end of an era. Thank God I knew him. I love you and will miss you, Tic Tac. King of the knuckleheads. Rest in peace," she wrote.

On the other hand, Michael Urie also took his time to reflect and look back on his memories with the late actor aas he shared several behind-the-scenes photos of them together.

"Michael McGrath was as wonderful offstage as he was on. Adorable, mischievous, brilliant," he wrote, adding, "I will continue to take everything he taught me wherever I go."

The official X account of Tony Awards also shared a video of McGrath's acceptance speech, and they honored him in the caption, writing, "Today, we mourn the loss of the incredibly talented actor, Michael McGrath. Your legacy will forever light up the stage."

In addition to being a successful actor on stage and on television, Michael McGrath also appeared on a few films althroughout his career.

Some of his film credits include "The Secrets of Kells," "Wolfwalkers," "Escape of the Gingerbread Man," "Ira & Abby," and many more.

He previously work on the production of "Forbidden Broadway," where he met Toni DiBuono, whom he later married.
