Awards shows are a hotspot for dramatic and controversial confrontations in the entertainment industry. Take for example the infamous Will Smith Oscars Slap, the Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj altercation, and who would've forgotten Kanye snatching Taylor Swift's VMA moment for Beyonce?

Needless to say, when fans spotted drama, they immediately ran with it. At the 2023 VMAs, a POV camera was running at the Prudential Center in New Jersey, capturing moments from the crowd and backstage.

Justin Timberlake, Megan Thee Stallion VMAs Argument Explained

At one point, it captured an interaction between a preparing Megan Thee Stallion and Justin Timberlake. In the now-viral video, it seemed like Megan Thee Stallion was blasting a passing Timberlake who happened to pass her by.

Fans immediately speculated that the two were fighting, throwing expletives at each other, but that did not happen at all, well not what people thought of.

Immediately after, people online were speculating what the alleged heated interaction was about, only for Page Six to reveal that it wasn't actually heated.

"Meg loves Justin," an insider said at the time. "She was saying, 'No, no, no, we've never met before.' It was their first time meeting and she was excited." Adding, "Megan didn't want this to be the first meeting with Justin Timberlake so [she] said, 'Not now.'"

On that night as well, Megan posted a TikTok video with Timberlake, who seemed to now be all smiles.

Megan Thee Stallion Clears Up Justin Timberlake Feud

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Megan Thee Stallion echoed Page Six's insider tidbit - attesting to what really transpired during that night. She revealed that during her "proper" meeting with Timberlake, they were laughing at the people's reaction to the inaudible clip on social media.

"We were really crying-laughing because it was like, 'In what world is Megan Thee Stallion beefed out on Justin Timberlake?" she told the outlet in stitches. "I'm in the back tussling with *NSYNC? That sounds crazy! I just I thought it was so funny because I talk with my hands and my nails are so long so I know this looks crazy, like you almost thought I was coming for you and I was coming for him. But, yeah this is just how I talk."
