Maren Morris' 3-year-old son received death threats after she called out Morgan Wallen due to his use of the N-word.

Morris, who announced her departure from the country music genre, spoke up about the intense scrutiny she and her son faced after commenting on Wallen's issue. According to the matriarch, even her son, Hayes, received death threats.

Maren Morris' Son Suffered From Death Threats

On the Wednesday, October 4, episode of The New York Times' "Popcast" podcast (via Us Weekly), Morris said she was criticized for speaking up and that her son also became a victim of scrutiny.

"Not because I regret what I said, because I absolutely don't, it needed to be condemned publicly by peers," she said.

The incident in question happened during Wallen's night out in Nashville in 2021. A video captured him using a racial slur and referring to one of his friends using the N-word.

The "Make You Say" singer shared a post on X at that time to call out Morgan and his use of the word.

She welcomed her son with her husband, Ryan Hurd, in March 2020.

Previously, Morris opened up about female country musicians suffering more in the industry than male singers. She also had a beef with Jason and Brittany Aldean when she broke her silence on the latter's controversial post in which she thanked her parents for not changing her gender when she faced her "tomboy phase."

Maren Morris Fed Up With Dramas

Morris told the Los Angeles Times in September that she wanted to avoid the dramas in the industry already. While she initially planned to "burn the genre and start over," it burned itself down, per the singer.

"I've always been an asker of questions and a status quo challenger just by being a woman. So it wasn't really even a choice," the singer continued. "The further you get into the country music business, that's when you start to see the cracks. And once you see it, you can't un-see it."

By leaving country music, the "I Could Use a Love Song" singer said she was also trying to walk away from things that no longer make her happy. She announced she would shift her genre and release new music soon.
