Jason Aldean's Controversies

Aldean's string of controversial moments started in September 2015 when he told the Washington Post that he could not tell female singers apart.

He also faced backlash for wearing blackface, donning a Confederate flag shirt, breaking COVID-19 protocols, defending Donald Trump and dealing with the issues after his wife, Brittany Aldean, posted photos wearing an "Anti Biden Social Club."

Aldean's most recent issue happened when he dropped the music video for his track "Try That in a Small Town" in July 2023. The clip features the singer performing in front of a courthouse while showing footage that portrays protests.

He defended his work and said that he had been subject to condemnation.

"There is not a single lyric in the song that references race or points to it - and there isn't a single clip that isn't real news footage - and while I can try and respect others to have their own interpretation of a song with music - this one goes too far," he explained.
