"The Voice" contestant Nini Iris shocked the judges not only with her jaw-dropping performance but also with her One Direction story.

Iris, a 27-year-old hopeful, performed Everybody Loves an Outlaw's "I See Red" which made all four judges turn around for her. Her idol Niall Horan also pressed the buzzer for her.

"The Voice" Contestant Nini Iris Shares a One Direction Story

Horan, John Legend, Gwen Stefani and Reba McEntire started convincing Iris to join their respective teams. However, the former One Direction member tried his luck more when he got on his knees and begged.

Before choosing her coach, Iris admitted she was a big fan of One Direction and shared another revelation.

"I'm not ashamed to say that I wrote maybe a few fanfictions when I was a teenager," she said, piquing everyone's interests. "When you're young and you love somebody you just wanna meet them so bad. So you write about your dreams of meeting them, that's all."

Legend quipped how sad it is when reality does not live up to the dreams; Horan also joked that the saddest moment for him was meeting the "All of Me" singer.

As expected, she chose to join Team Niall.

Horan marked his second season as a "The Voice" coach.

What Niall Horan Said About One Direction and the Potential Reunion

In June, Horan told TODAY's Willie Geist that finding so much success after debuting in One Direction "almost feels like a dream." He added how he realized that his time in the boy group seemed to be a different reality.

"It nearly feels like it's a separate life now," he continued. "I definitely have a wiser, like, a good outlook on things, looking back. I didn't lose the plot along the way."

Reflecting on their hit single "What Makes You Beautiful," Horan recalled how it snowballed so fast and led them to more spotlight.

When One Direction was still launching its career in the early days, he revealed that the members - Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik and Harry Styles - were all shocked that they always looked at each other in disbelief at the success they were getting.

However, they left everyone broken when they decided to go on a hiatus in 2015.
